The iButton® Reader/Probe provides the electrical contact for the Dallas DS19XX range of products to facilitates the transfer of the data from the iButton®.

DESCRIPTION

The YSL9092ARES iButton® Probe provides the electrical contact necessary for the transfer of data to and from the DS19xx family of iButton®’s. The Reader/Probe has a bi-colour LED round the circumference of the centre data contact and circumference of the casing. The benefit here being the status LED is visible even when the iButton® touches the data contact. The round probe shape provides a self-aligning interface that readily matches the circular rim of the iButton®’s MicroCan package. Metal contacts resist wear and are easy to keep clean. The centre contact of the standard reader has no moving parts, making this a more rugged interface for harsh environments. This type of probe is best suited for designs where the iButton® is brought into contact with the reader. The panel-mount probes are fastened behind the panel with a Metal 20mm thread/nut. The four 40 cm 22AWG wires have a outer sheath and provides for easy connection to the system microcontroller. The LED’s have no series Resistors integrated so external Resistors are required (generally incorporated on microcontroller board) and the value calculated based on supply voltage on the basis the volt drop across the LED’s is 1.7v at a nominal current of 20mA. Not suitable for external/harsh environments.
